insurrection progress report #2
At long last, Build 15 has been released.
Build 15 changes, adds, and fixes a variety of aspects of this game, including but not limited to:
- A proper menu area - though lacking in purpose now, it'll serve a purpose lore-wise when I get around to explaining/showing the story in-game.
- Various balancing and gameplay/mechanical changes and additions, such as minor resource/ammo management and needing to use specific weapons for specific purposes, such as headshots with the Headhunter (the sniper rifle) to regain lost health. Resources cannot be found within arenas, at least not very plentifully - you need to make good use of your arsenal to continue staying alive.
- A graphical facelift - this game, admittedly, looked like absolute shit in previous builds, and I feel as if the newly-released Build 15 looks far better in comparison to the now-ancient Build 14.
- A scoring system - in Insurrection, you'll need to play quite aggressively and use everything at your disposal effectively if you enjoy having high ranks. Though this currently serves no purpose, I feel as if it's a start to encouraging and pushing players into the playstyle I have in mind for this game.
- Performance/optimization enhancements - though there are still issues that need to be weeded out on certain configurations, this game will generally run far better than its previous iterations have. This isn't to say there aren't still problems to be fixed, though - this game as it is now tends to be quite unpredictable with how it runs on some hardware, so please do tell me how this game ran for you when you played it, as well as your computer's specs in this form. The purpose for this is so I can find a recommended and bare-minimum of what you'll need to play this game.
- And a handful of other things that would either be too much to put here, or something I can't quite recall.
Nonetheless, I hope that anyone who finds this game will have a good time with it and will follow this game's development in the coming future. I feel that, like I said before, this is an great improvement over the last publically-released build.
There's still much more to come, though. I'll write again whenever it is that I release a new edition of this game, though it won't be as long as it took to release this build of Insurrection, should I decide to begin releasing builds far more frequently than I am now.
